On September 10th, 2025, Biafra Republic Government in Exile Acting Prime Minister (APM) Ogechukwu Nkere met with Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (D-NJ), to discuss areas of mutual interest between BRGIE and the US Government. APM Nkere, in addition to provide a general briefing about Biafran issues to Congresswoman McIver, highlighted the plight of imprisoned Biafran political activists and the role the U.S. government can play in obtaining their releases. APM Nkere also stated the role that Congress should play in blocking future arms sales to Nigeria, as well as agreements which could be made between Biafra and the United States. Lastly, APM Nkere discussed engagement the Biafran-American diaspora with Congresswoman McIver. Congresswoman McIver represents a significant Biafran-American constituency.
