On September 3rd, 2025, Biafra Republic Government in Exile Acting Prime Minister (APM) Ogechukwu Nkere met with Congressman Brian Mast (R-FL), the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, to discuss areas of mutual interest between BRGIE and the US Government. APM Nkere, in addition to providing a general briefing about Biafran issues to Chairman Mast, discussed strategic proposals and the desire for agreements between the U.S. and Biafra. APM Nkere also stated concerns regarding proposed arms sales to Nigeria. Congressman Mast, as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, has the unique ability to approve or block arms sales.
